The TREE Initiative has planted this many trees directly/in collaboration with organizations like Friends of Columbia Tap and the Alief Super Neighborhood Council! These trees have been planted across Houston in places like Alief and Third Ward, helping to make a major impact on those communities.

Planting for Shade
At this planting we collaborated with numerous other environmental organizations, primarily Friends of Columbia Tap, to help increase tree coverage in Third Ward.
What we accomplished:

organized 100+ volunteers to help plant native tree saplings along the Columbia Tap Trail
-
planted 480+ trees, shading large areas along the entire 4-mile trail





Alief Planting #1
At this planting we collaborated with the Alief Super Neighborhood Council, AliefVotes, and SEWA International to increase green spaces and shade in Alief.
What we accomplished:
-
organized 50+ volunteers to help plant trees on esplanades in Alief
-
planted 120+ trees










For a Tree Care Day
At this event, we collaborated with Friends of Columbia Tap and Texas A&M AgriLife to help care for trees and prepare soil for native plants along the Columbia Tap Trail in Third Ward.
What we accomplished:
-
mulched 150+ trees planted previously along the Columbia Tap Trail
-
prepared two large planting beds in the AIDS Memorial Garden along the trail for the planting of native fruit plants
-
these fruit plants can be utilized by pollinators and by residents to gather free, fresh fruit!

Columbia Tap Planting #2
At this planting we collaborated with Friends of Columbia Tap to help increase tree coverage in Third Ward and make the Columbia Tap Trail an accessible, shady green space for residents to access.
What we accomplished:

organized 20+ volunteers to help plant trees along the Columbia Tap Trail

planted and mulched 100+ trees











Columbia Tap Planting #3
At this event, we collaborated with Friends of Columbia Tap, Texas A&M AgriLife, and other amazing organizations to help create Houston's green corridor and to increase tree coverage in Third Ward along the Columbia Tap Trail.
What we accomplished:

organized 30+ volunteers to help plant along the trail

planted and mulched 150+ trees along a long stretch of the trail






Alief Planting #2
As the primary organizers of this planting, we worked closely with the Alief Super Neighborhood Council and Sewa International to help finish up the shading of S. Dairy Ashford in Alief.
What we accomplished:

organized 40+ volunteers to help plant trees along esplanades in Alief
-
planted and mulched 150+ trees
